The Rainbow History
The rainbow flag, a symbol of the LGBT pride and diversity, was created by San Francisco artist, Gilbert Baker in 1978. Originally created with eight colours, pink and turquoise were removed for production purposes and as of 1979, the rainbow flag consisted of six colours.
Apart from the rainbow flag symbolizing a mixed LGBT community, each colour on the rainbow flag possessed its own symbolic meaning:
Red : Life
Orange: Healing
Yellow : Sunlight
Green : Nature
Blue : Harmony
Purple : Spirit
